Sending Forms with Email
Sierra Web Design provides two methods to easily add form-processing via email to your site:

  Standard Form Mailer
  ASP Mailer (requires ASP)

If you feel you would prefer a custom solution, contact us at webmaster@sierraweb.com

Cybercash - Online Credit Card Ordering
Cybercash functions as a gateway to your credit card merchant account.   Before using Cybercash you will need to obtain a merchant account.  See online banks for a list of banks that support Cybercash transactions.

If you already have a merchant account with a Cyberash-enabled bank then you are one step closer to taking credit card orders over the internet.  Either way, before you get started please drop us a line at webmaster@sierraweb.com so we can inform you of any late-breaking news in this area.

As a rule of thumb it will generally be a few weeks before the series of transactions between your bank and Cybercash can enable your account and get the system operational.

ASP Programming
ASP stands for Active Server Pages.  Essentially it is server-side VBSCRIPT.  ASP allows you to embed programming into your web pages that runs on the server, instead of a client's browser - this makes ASP browser-independent.

Contact us at webmaster@sierraweb.com if you are familiar with VBSCRIPT programming and want to use ASP on your site.  To learn about ASP programming consult your local bookstore or try the following links:

  WebCoder
  Microsoft

Online Databases
Sierra Web Design has been integrating database technology with web sites since 1995, and has over 20 years experience with database programming.  Contact us at webmaster@sierraweb.com to learn more.
CGI and Perl Programming
CGI programming is our main strength.  We have over 20 years experience developing software solutions for private and public business sectors.  Contact us at webmaster@sierraweb.com to learn more.

Our web server is currently running Perl for NT version 5.001  If you would like to incorporate your custom Perl scripts into your site please keep in mind that there are slight differences between the Windows NT and Unix flavors of Perl.  You can learn more about NT Perl by visiting www.activestate.com

Ideally you will develop and test your Perl scripts on your own local server before uploading them to the main server.

Disclaimer
Operating a web server is a community effort.  It depends upon the willingness of each member to take the necessary precautions and act responsibly.

The web server is accessed by tens of thousands of people daily.  The livelihood of the people who host their sites on the server may depend on their site being operational.   If the server does crash due to a rogue program, whether intentionally or by accident - it is quite possible you could be held accountable and face litigation and financial distress.

There is always an element of risk involved when running CGI programs on the server.  The best we can do is trust that you have weighed the risks and thoroughly tested your code before uploading it to the server.

Of the utmost importance: if while using the server you feel that it is not operating correctly, please contact us immediately at webmaster@sierraweb.com or (702)833-9500.
